Apply for school for the next academic year

The application is open between 15 January and 12 February. There are both municipal and independent schools as well as adapted compulsory schools to apply to.

Apply to several schools to increase the chances of getting a place for your child at a desired school.

Find a school

On the website Hitta grundskola you can find all the schools you can apply for. Choose the schools that are best suited for your child. Many schools have information meetings where you can meet teachers and see the school's premises before you apply.

Apply for school 15 January–12 February

Apply for a reserve position for the next academic year

You can apply for a reserve position for your child in the City of Stockholm's municipal schools for the autumn term between 9 April and 6 May.

You can apply for any reserve positions for your child at municipal schools before the start of the autumn term if you:

• did not received a school placement at the desired school during the regular application period
• have recently moved within or to the City of Stockholm and want a school for your child close to the new registered address
• did not apply for a school for your child during the regular application period.

If your child lives in another municipality, you could apply for a reserve place via the e-service. However, you should primarily apply for a reserve place in your municipality of residence.

Apply to a school after the term has started

You can apply to another municipal school for your child if you have recently moved within or to the City of Stockholm, or if the child wants to change schools.

You apply during the following periods:

• 1 October–15 October with school start 3 November
• 11 November–5 December with school start 7 January 2026
• 18 February–25 February with school start 10 March 2026
